My grandfather built log buildings, barns, homes, and chicken coops. Being from Finland, his log buildings had dovetail corners to secure the logs in place. Swedes in this area seemed to prefer a saddle notch and Norwegians a square notch. However, that convention was by no means set in stone, or in this case, wood corners.
